THREE

Hybrid renewable technologies for stable energy supply.

THREE: HYBRID RENEWABLE TECHNOLOGIES FOR STABLE ENERGY SUPPLY

The THREE project is an ambitious research and development initiative focused on renewable technologies based on solar hybridisation and therefore aligned with the objectives of the European Union’s STEP Platform, as solar technologies are considered part of critical clean technologies. Its name comes from its focus on 3 (THREE) fundamental challenges in Renewable Energy: Hybridisation, Storage, and Stable Supply.

The general objective of the THREE project is to advance scientific and technological knowledge of compact hybrid photovoltaic and thermo-solar technologies (PV–CST), through the development of a hybrid photovoltaic panel with a mirror that enables a stable baseload energy supply. The project proposes simple and modular plant concepts aimed at integration into applications with high energy demands, such as data processing centres (DPCs) or high-temperature hydrogen production through solid oxide electrolyser cells (SOECs). Advanced Artificial Intelligence techniques will be used for the modelling and optimisation of these solutions.

The project is being developed in collaboration with Bluesolar Filters SL, Cobra Solutions SL, Sunntics Europe SL and Virtualmechanics SL. Funded by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology.
